Jack moment 23 Aug 2015

J: What's this?

D: That's your belly button, mate.
J: I can press it! presses his belly button and farts simultaneously
D: incapacitated by laughter

Spring is springing!

The stars are particularly bright tonight and there's a full moon. It's rather lovely.

Office progress

Got some of the walls lined. Very tricky working in the limited floor space. Half the area is taken up with my desk, etc.

Jagweeds

Needed 16 sheets of Gyprock to line the office. Bunnings had exactly 16 sheets in stock. (Despite the genius on the phone telling me they had a full pallet)

On my second load, I ran out of space on the trolley with only one sheet left on the shelf. When I got back from getting that load on top of the Patrol:

I think someone stepped on it trying to reach a higher shelf. What a legend.

Tree work

This dead tree sits in the bushland neighboring or property. I knew it was threatening our power lines, but I hadn't realised just how bad it was. The branches were intertwined with the lines. Also, the main limb was so badly cracked there were big chunks of daylight showing through.

The weakness of the limb meant I couldn't safely saw any of the branches for fear of the whole thing coming down. The fact the branches were in the lines meant I couldn't just pull the whole thing down.
I ended up rigging a hillbilly contraption. Rope around limb. Snatch block up high on neighboring gum. Rope through snatch block attached to recovery point on the back of the Patrol. Drove the Patrol up the driveway.
The limb ended up hanging up on the coax and I had to free it with a stick. Not ideal.
All good now, though!

Muddy puddles

After all the rain of the last few days, there's plenty of mud around. Jack and Monty had a lovely time running through every puddle they could find.
